Technical Writer
As a contributing member of a highly motivated software development team, the successful applicant will design, develop, and deliver exceptional information products (printed documentation, online help, enterprise wiki, and training materials) that support the needs of NCR product users and contribute to continuous improvements in NCR technical writing initiatives and information product offerings.
Responsibilities include:
+ Working closely with software developers, product owners/managers, business analysts, architects, test engineers, support representatives, and other cross-functional team members to identify information needs and translate those needs into information products that support and enhance NCR product and solution offerings
+ Contributing to technical writing planning activities with engineering manager and scrum masters/product owners to schedule work in order to meet project deadlines and deliver identified information products
+ Completing information product analysis, design, development, validation, and maintenance activities in support of NCR product development
+ Integrating subject matter expertise with a solid understanding of technical writing industry standards and best practices to continuously improve information product offerings and support NCR technical writing excellence
+ Contributing to technical writing standards, policies, and process improvements for use by NCR technical writers
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
+ A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in technical or professional writing (or a related communications discipline)
+ Expertise using authoring software, such as Madcap Flare, Adobe FrameMaker, Adobe RoboHelp, and Atlassian Confluence, Microsoft Word to produce technical documentation
+ Experience using graphics and presentation tools, such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Visio, and Microsoft PowerPoint to produce images, diagrammatic aids and other technical reference materials
+ Experience with HTML and stylesheets desirable
+ Familiarity with software development lifecycle preferably in an agile/lean environment
+ Familiarity with project planning and scheduling activities
+ Excellent written and verbal English language communication skills
+ Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and collaboration skills
+ Proven ability to work independently and self-motivate with minimal supervision
+ Excellent organizational skills with the ability to balance multiple assignments and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
+ Ability to understand customer needs or expectations; business requirements and technical requirements
+ Ability to determine and validate information products requirements independently through hands-on use of the technologies being documented
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
+ A graduate degree
+ Qualification in Tech Comms
+ Experience in authoring software template design and development
+ Demonstrated ability to learn new tools and technologies
+ Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning
