ICT Systems Technician Location: Ampleforth College Salary: In the region of £22,000 (pro rata) Closing Date: Thursday 03 January 2019 Ampleforth Abbey Trust are looking to appoint a technically capable and customer focused technician to join the IT Services Department. IT Services provide the platform and systems which primarily support Ampleforth College and St Martins Ampleforth, but also the numerous supporting teams, business operations, and the monastic community. This an exciting time at Ampleforth as we enter a period of technical development and this role will be at the very heart of these advancements. Providing technical assistance to key projects across the site is a significant element that forms part of this role. The Ampleforth ICT Department operate ITIL Service Management principles, therefore ITIL training and experience will be an advantage, to help further deliver service delivery at Ampleforth. As a technician within the IT Services Team you will use your knowledge and experience of a Microsoft Windows domain environment to provide first and second line support to over 900 staff and students who use a variety of technologies, including Windows desktop, Apple iOS and Android tablets and phones. Your ability to interact positively and effectively with customers is essential, communicating technical concepts to a variety of stakeholders in an understandable manner. Operating from an ITIL-based service desk, you will be comfortable managing and prioritising your own work queue, with good administration and documentation. Your skills with networking, servers, storage, virtualisation and communications will all be required within a dedicated and professional team. You will also contribute to maintaining the security and availability of Trust systems through monitoring, maintenance and backup tasks. Your enthusiasm for technology and how it can benefit Ampleforth will be key, as will your positive attitude to change and desire to improve your knowledge through research and training. The role is 37 hours per week, 38 weeks per year and is flexible in terms of how the working pattern will be achieved. There is scope for the role to be based around school holidays if required.
