Purpose of the role
The overall purpose of the support package is to assist the client in having a safe sociable, purposeful and active lifestyle, in which the client remains as independent as is practical.
Adhere to the support plan designed by the client and approved by HomeCareDirect. This will include a wide variety of duties at the client’s home and in the community which enable the client to live as independently as possible and in the manner in which they wish to live
Enable the client to live as full and active a life as possible.
Undergo training as determined by HomeCareDirect so that you are trained to meet the client’s needs as specified in the support plan
Complete a daily record of work in HomeCareDirect log books so that accurate and reliable information is available to HomeCareDirect about the client
Attend supervision sessions with a HomeCareDirect representative so you can be assessed as being safe to perform tasks in which you have been trained
Attend appraisal sessions with a HomeCareDirect representative so that feedback can be provided and any issues raised and discussed. Career progression and further training opportunities for personal assistants will also be discussed here
Comply with relevant legislation and HomeCareDirect operational policies and procedures
General Work Duties
You will be required to assist the client in the tasks below:
Aiding client with daily activities of daily living:
Daily wet shave;
Cooking balanced, nutritious meals;
Eating and drinking.
Assisting with client’s reasonable daily routine of waking, eating, socialising and rehabilitation activities.
Recreational activities with client including community access and access to hobbies.
Providing client with a means for transport to clinical appointments and community access.
Providing information and support to the family of those within your care with timely reports of issues or incidents.
Maintaining daily record sheets outlining support required per day.
Participating in training to assist with rehabilitation exercises with respective therapists, such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, assistive technology.
Providing companionship and support for client.
Assisting client with management of medication as required.
Assisting client with administrative tasks they are unable to complete.
Maintain robust and consistent communication with HCD management and Case Manager regarding client’s needs, wishes, issues and barriers that present during shift.
Remain updated on risk assessments and care plans in place as per those set out by Home Care Direct. Highlighting to management change of situation that may require adaptation of risk assessments and care plans.

A full, valid driving licence is required. It is preferable that applicants have their own suitable vehicle to take the client out.
It is desirable for applicants to have previous experience in the care sector. This can be either paid or voluntary work and family care experience can be considered.
HomeCareDirect will ensure that you are fully trained to meet the needs of the person you are employed to support. This training will be provided prior to starting with the client and updated as necessary. Some training may require you to attend external training courses.
£10.00 per hour for daytime hours
£8.21 per hour for sleep nights
