Are you looking for a job where you can really make a difference?
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated support worker to join the team at this service providing support for adults with learning disabilities and associated health needs.
Staff support is flexible and structured around individual’s needs on a daily basis and the staff
team are recruited specifically to meet the skills and qualities of the people they are to
support. Staff will actively support and encourage individuals to attend college, seek
employment both paid and voluntary and participate in numerous recreation opportunities
available within local community. We have supported a number of tenants at Gordon Avenue
to seek voluntary and or part time employment in specific areas of personal interest.
We have introduced an independent living skills assessment tool with tenants within Gordon
Avenue which is in easy read format and outcome driven. The tools start with an person
centred assessment of the individual’s skills and focuses on what skills are needed to prepare
for independence. Not only does it focus on skills for independence, it also covers topics such
as health, relationships, employment and socialisation. Feedback from tenants is positive and
success can be measured by a notable increase in tenants self-esteem, confidence, emotional
well-being and participation with daily living and social opportunities. Our aim is replicate this
success and user led focus within Gordon Avenue.
The people we support are at the heart of everything we do - they are wonderful individuals and deserve to be treated with respect, dignity and choice. Our main priority, therefore, is to find support workers with values, behaviours and attitudes to match our own.
Could this be you?
Your duties will be varied and no two days will be the same. You'll be providing support for day-to-day living, such as social activities, sports and hobbies, employment, holidays etc along with support with general household duties such as cooking, cleaning and money management. Our services operate 24/7, so you will work in shifts (as allocated by your manager). This means you may need to work early mornings, late evenings, weekends and bank holidays. You may also be required to undertake sleep-in shifts on a rota basis.
Once you click "Apply", you will be directed to our website and asked to create an account. This will only take a few seconds and just requires you to give us your name and an email address, and will allow us to contact you regarding the vacancy. We won't share your details with any agencies or other companies.
We believe that a successful Support Worker doesn’t always have experience, but shares our vision to ensure that ‘every moment has potential’ for the people we support to learn new skills and to achieve their goals.
Basic numeracy and literacy skills as well as good English are a must.
