Casual Supervisor & Learning Support Practitioner Location: Norwich Salary: £20,000 FTE Closes on: Thursday 14 February 2019 There is currently an opportunity of a joint role at HMP & YOI Norwich within the education department. Working as a Learning Support Practitioner and Cover Supervisor with PeoplePlus you work collaboratively with Instructors, Teachers and Trainers to provide support to learners with an identified need and cover planned teaching sessions during absence periods. The roles will see you promote an effective and inclusive learning environment, providing support to learners in a variety of settings. This is a Part Time position for 33 hours per week Monday - Thursday. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Making a contribution to the planning, delivery and evaluation of learning and Skills activities provided to learners Providing cover for absent teachers, supervising classes / groups of learners and ensuring that they carry out the learning and skills tasks required by the particular course. Liaise with teaching staff and managers regarding work set for classes and ensure the cover resource material is maintained at all times. To assist the teacher(s) in the implementation of the pupils’ curriculum To carry out, under the direct supervision of the teacher(s), individual programmes of learning specifically to support the learners concerned To assist in the implementation of any other programmes of support delivered by the education department To assist in the preparation of teaching materials and equipment in support of the learners concerned To assist the teacher(s) in maintaining a detailed record of progress, recording observations of strengths and weaknesses as appropriate Completing all the necessary contractual documentation to record learning and skills activities e.g. ILR, DAS, LDP’s Maintaining records of learner progress, including action planning, monitoring and reviewing and providing feedback to learners themselves Supporting learners to achieve the targets as set out in their Learning Development Plans Motivating learners to complete tasks and encourage them to interact and work cooperatively with others Promoting the inclusion and acceptance of all learners, celebrating diversity and ensuring the implementation of equal opportunities Collaboratively manage the behaviour of the learners, promoting and maintaining a safe and secure learning environment, to support the general care, welfare and safety of the learners Complying with the security requirements of HM Prison Services at all times To support organisational and administrative work, preparation and marking associated with teaching responsibilities. To include (but not limited to) the provision of lesson plans and the completion of Individual Learning Plans if required. Supporting PeoplePlus and the prison service administration needs as required Undertaking staff development and training as identified by PeoplePlus. Participating in appropriate team and course meetings. Undertaking student attendance monitoring Assisting with the capture of student data relating to retention rates, examination and other assessment results, student progress and student satisfaction surveys. To be considered for this role individuals must: Hold a Level 3 NVQ qualification in learning support or equivalent or be working towards Have a high level of IT competence Have confidence in using a diverse range of resources and communication skills.
