The successful applicant will be responsible for the management of the commercial Out of Gauge negotiations, developing business opportunities, increasing the lines profile in this sector whilst maximising profits for line and agency. Prepare and work to budgets in conjunction with the Senior Specialist Commercial Manager in order to achieve targets set, whilst maintaining good working relationships with key customers. Work closely with all supporting departments across the business to ensure success. We believe the successful Out of Gauge Specialist should have the following skills: Proven experience in Out of Gauge development. Proven experience in People Management and Developing a team Proven background securing new business and to nurture / develop existing business. Ability to address and resolve day to day business issues. Excellent communication skills and a continued positive attitude to new business challenges. Good numeracy, literacy, and IT skills Good Excel (Intermediate standard – Pivot Tables), Word and PowerPoint Skills Operational knowledge relating to ship planning, break bulk cargo’s & terminal operations. Be able to demonstrate a professional manner at all times. Ability to be flexible and meet strict deadlines. Proven experience in handling high level negotiation. A positive “can do” attitude and the ability to think on your feet Knowledge of international legislation pertaining to the safe stowage and handling of Out of Gauge cargoes (Provide Method Statements). Driving licence The key tasks for the Out of Gauge Specialist role are: Set, agree & achieve clear targets regarding the development / growth of this sector within the business. Contacting potential or existing customers to solicit Out of Gauge opportunities and inform them about our products & services. Identify and validate opportunities and produce quality leads Ensure policies are relayed to trade desks allowing for Customer Services teams to deliver. Visit customers & potential new clients on a regular basis to maintain and grow relationships. Occasional trips to Geneva and overseas agents will be required. Analyse market including competition activities, customer actions and commodity flows. Co-operation with Logistics department essential ensuring equipment availability. Maintaining accurate records regarding agreements, number of shipments & value to the business. Enhance best working practices on the department.
