Senior Systems Verification Engineer

Meggitt Avionics located in Fareham between Southampton and Portsmouth on the UK's south coast, designs and manufactures flight deck avionics, data acquisition systems, instrumentation and life support equipment.
Meggitt Avionics´ aviation history spans a century and for the last 15 years we have pioneered solid state technology. Meggitt Avionics designs and manufactures aircraft sensors, displays and systems across three product groups: flight deck avionics, data acquisition systems and life support.
This role is for a Senior Systems Verification Engineer experienced in avionics safety critical engineering product development, integration and verification.
Develop, implement and conduct structured verification activities to meet programme requirements across the whole development lifecycle in accordance with customer requirements, legislation, human factors and business needs.
Be responsible for the control of own work and that of any allocated resources (personnel and equipment) to meet agreed technical, quality, cost and schedule requirements.
Plan, develop and implement system activities to verify system design specifications, including development of test plans and procedures, and identification and development of test equipment.
Conduct verification activities as required securing product acceptance, to meet agreed technical, quality, cost and schedule requirements.
To plan, coordinate, create, review and issue system test reports following verification activities.
Develop and execute test cases in a simulation environment, analyse and present data, validate control functionality, and document results.
Identify anomalous control system behaviour, identify root cause of issues and identify solutions.
Assist the design lead in preparing equipment Declarations of Design and Performance
Primary working relationships & interfaces:
The Senior Systems Verification Engineer will technically report to the Design Lead. Overall cost, schedule and direction will be provided by the Project Manager.
The Senior Systems Verification Engineer is expected to liaise with system design engineers and component (hardware and software) engineers during the development of verification plans and procedures. The verification activities will be planned, developed and conducted in close relationship with System Qualification (Environmental, EMC) activities.
Additional non-engineering interfaces will be with Meggitt Production and Test, the Meggitt Repair Organisation and other Operations personnel as required.
Key skills and competencies required:
Experience of leading verification activities
Experience of Avionics or extensive safety critical industry experience
Experience of capturing system requirements and of validating and verifying that the system that has been produced as a result meets the original specification.
Ability to write integration and verification plans, define detailed test procedures and demonstrate effective management of systems verification activities.
Experience of working with customers, suppliers, other engineering disciplines, quality, manufacturing and other company departments.
Experience of leading verification activities to comply to EUROCAE ED-79/SAE ARP4754A
Aircraft electronic equipment verification experience.
Knowledge of how different aircraft systems interface with each other and how they use the information.
Knowledge of aircraft certification requirements within the EASA regulatory environment.
Knowledge of EUROCAE ED-14G/RTCA DO-160G, ED-12C/DO-178C, ED-80/DO-254,
Experience of leading formal decision analysis and resolution.
Experience of using Reqtify, DOORS or a similar requirements management/traceability tool.
Knowledge of software development tools to support system verification activities, such as Matlab/Simulink, Labview, CoPilot.
Past experience as a Software or Hardware Engineer.
Experience of unit level equipment design.
Experience of working on unit level equipment, and exposure to whole aircraft or whole system development and verification.
