Senior Software Engineering Lead – Systems Management

Position Summary & Key Areas of Responsibility
You will be joining NCR’s Software Engineering team, working directly in NCR’s Systems Management “Vision” Product line which serves several major industries – Financial Services, Retail and Digital Banking. In this role, you will be key in overseeing and defining key architectural decisions and frameworks for the Vision solution. You will be working with the teams to decide and improve the architecture, determine how orchestration is to be achieved, and how security, auditing, logging and other compliance and support concerns are incorporated.
In addition, the solution will need to support various deployment choices (public Cloud or locally / in-house, ensure high availability and resilience, support the migration of existing customers to the new architecture and facilitate DevOps.
Your key day-today responsibilities will include:
+ Working with other senior SWE leads, SMEs, & architects to determine the appropriate service-based architecture, technologies and tooling to use.
+ Articulating the Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs) and architecting the solution to meet those NFRs, developing architectural and design principles to improve performance, capacity, and scalability of the product.
+ Produce and maintain architectural artifacts including diagrams & presentations.
+ Be ‘hands-on’, assisting the development team in creating the services/code and adopting best practices;
+ What constitutes each service.
+ Reviewing the scrum team’s design and development
+ Provide ongoing technical guidance to the scrum team members as required.
+ Working with architects and specialists to determine and prove appropriate deployment options and choices whether in the cloud of local.
+ Working with QA specialists to ensure adequate automated testing and fault diagnostics.
+ Working with DevOps specialists to facilitate continuous deployment as Product releases are created and Customers’ own DevOps pipelines deploy those releases.
+ Assisting the QA specialists and development team with performance, scalability and resilience testing and issue resolution.
+ Working with NCR Professional Services, other stakeholders and end Customers to understand end user pain points and requirements, migration strategies and deployment options.
+ Meeting with stakeholders to clearly communicate status, progress and issues, providing options and agree mitigations / actions.
+ Feeding into the Product backlog requirements and suggestions.
+ Feeding into Project planning, Product timeframes, priorities and development boundaries.
+ Aligning with the overall business goals, feeding adjustments into team activities as necessary and applying your skills in leadership, communication, influence, negotiation, cross-cultural awareness, and conflict resolution.
+ Providing feedback and suggestions for the continuous improvement of the common and local team processes.
+ Fostering communication and productive relationships with Product Management, Engineering Management, NCRs Professional Services Project team members, Customer team members, and other Business Stakeholders.
Basic Qualifications & Experience
+ 5+ years of leading software engineering teams building Java based Enterprise Applications.
+ 3+ years of working with cloud-based solutions, or applications transitioning to cloud
+ 8+ years of working as a senior Java/Spring Framework developer
+ Experience designing and implementing Micro-service architectures and Micro-services.
+ Previous production experience of cloud deployments including practical experience with one of the cloud providers; Azure, AWS or Google Cloud.
+ Experience articulating NFRs and architecting solutions to meet them in conjunction with business/product and engineering teams.
+ Previous production experience with one or more Java Enterprise Applications.
+ Experience working in a scrum, agile project.
+ Strong analytic and problem-solving skills.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Excellent presentation skills.
+ Excellent mentoring skills.
+ Experience of working with teams located at multiple geographic locations.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
+ Previous experience working in the Systems Management domain or IOT system.
+ Experience working on a high-volume system using messaging technologies (e.g. JMS)
+ Significant experience of Java development.
+ Experience with Product development and the deployment of Product across multiple institutions.
+ Experience of working with Spring Boot and REST.
+ Experience of working with Spring Security APIs.
+ Experience of working with ElasticSearch and/or Solr.
+ Experience of working with JMS and/or Kafka.
+ Experience of working with Oracle and/or MS SQL.
+ Experience working in a SAFe project.
+ Candidates must possess a good degree in a technical subject.
