Senior Software and Desktop Systems Engineer

Salary: £39,152 to £49,553

As part of the Software and Desktop Services team, you will be designing and supporting complex infrastructure and software solutions that are essential to the University’s core operations.
We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate resourcefulness, initiative and understand the value of delivering reliable and stable services with clear and concise documentation. You will be working as part of a team of highly motivated individuals who are committed to achieving deadlines and customer satisfaction.
In particular, we are looking for candidates who have demonstrable skills in the design and implementation of enterprise-scale infrastructure, software and operating systems, with understanding and experience in the following: - Linux (RHEL or other) and/or MacOS and/or Windows - Enterprise configuration management and deployment tools for Linux and/or MacOS and/or Windows (eg Puppet, JamfPro, SCCM, MEM). - Cloud-based and virtualisation platforms (eg VmWare, Azure)
This is an exciting and meaningful role, where you will one of the University’s senior systems engineers, helping to set the IT strategy and expert standards and coaching colleagues to deliver those standards.
