Golder has an exciting opportunity for an established Senior Contaminated Land Consultant to join our Site Characterisation and Remediation (SCR) Practice Full Time based in Tadcaster near Leeds.
Key duties and responsibilities include:
·Project Management and Delivery: Manages the full project cycle from project initiation, through planning and executing to close, including technical and financial management of medium complexity projects typically associated with the management of land contamination in a nuclear, transactional or regulatory setting.
·Client Relationship Management: Maintains and develops excellent relationships with clients, displaying a broad understanding of client needs, and using this knowledge to cross-sell and deepen client relationships.
·Technical Knowledge and Support: Uses technical knowledge to prepare deliverables to a high standard, ideally with a specialism in one or more disciplines (e.g. human health or controlled waters risk assessment, remediation), and provides support and mentoring to junior and intermediate staff to aid their technical development.
·Networking: Uses an established and active professional network to raise the profile of Golder in the wider contaminated land and environmental consulting industry.
·Continued Professional Development: Committed to developing own skills and competence in the role with support from Golder managers and mentor.
Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
·A first degree and MSc (or equivalent) in a relevant subject and demonstrable experience in a consulting environment.
·Chartered (or equivalent level of professional qualification) relevant to contaminated land or hydrogeology (e.g. Chartered Scientist, Chartered Geologist) or willingness to work towards this.
·Strong broad background and experience in contaminated land and groundwater projects, ideally with a focus on risk assessment (human health or controlled waters/water environment) and remediation of soil and groundwater.
·Knowledge and practical experience of implementing UK legislation relating to land transfer, environmental compliance, and management of land affected by contamination, including environmental permitting, contaminated land, waste, and planning regimes. Knowledge and experience of projects in the nuclear industry desirable.
·Skilled in the design and management of site characterisation projects including intrusive investigations, field testing, laboratory analysis, Preliminary Risk Assessments and development of Conceptual Site Models.
·Familiarity with quantitative risk assessment methodologies for human health, controlled waters and the environment including CLEA, Remedial Targets Methodology, ConSim etc. Demonstrable experience in conducting these types of risk assessment is desirable.
·Excellent project manager with demonstrable ability either as a project manager or project coordinator to deliver quality projects on time and on budget.
·Exposure to work winning with an ability to write technically and commercially sound proposals based on an excellent understanding of clients’ requirements.
·Works with a high level of accuracy and excellent attention to detail.
·Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on team success.
·Excellent time management and organisational skills.
·Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English.
·Strong client and industry networking and liaison skills, and demonstrable network.
·Willingness to travel in the UK with a relevant driving licence.
