Senior Communications & PR Manager - ( 2000005I )
Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP is a global law firm with a long-standing track record of successfully supporting the world's leading national and multinational corporations, financial institutions and governments on ground-breaking and business-critical mandates.
Our people make our firm - we are a people business and want to create a welcoming and supportive environment where all can flourish. We see diversity as a strength which creates fresh perspectives and generates new ideas. We enjoy our work and are determined to do an outstanding job. We deliver best when working in teams.
We think and work globally - we don’t just say we are one firm; we act like one firm right across the world. We work wherever our clients need us. This is how we define ourselves, not by reference to where we have offices. Cross-border work isn’t just what we do, it is what we excel at. We understand what it really takes to work across different legal systems and commercial environments and to bridge language and cultural gaps.
We aim to add value in everything we do - we are passionate about helping our clients succeed. We use our experience and creativity to help clients make judgements and achieve their goals. In everything we do, we seek to make a real difference to the communities in which we operate.
Our London office is at the heart of our global network, in one of the most exciting world cities.
London is arguably the world’s greatest financial centre: all of the world’s leading financial institutions have a significant presence here. It’s home to the headquarters of more than 100 of Europe’s largest companies.
Our London team has a reputation that’s second to none.
They’re the team the world’s leading businesses turn to for help with their most challenging problems. They work with colleagues around the world on complex, cross-border deals and disputes.
Whether you join as a lawyer, a recent graduate or in a business services role, London is a great place to work.
You will have the opportunity to work on challenging, engaging work that will give you the opportunity to make your mark and progress your career. We believe there is no better place to work.
The PR Manager will be responsible for raising the profile of the firm and key individuals in relevant practice areas, sectors and markets. They will manage and implement an agreed communications plan for strategic areas of growth and agency resources to assist in proactive positioning of our message with key news outlets.
There are several main areas of work that the PR Manager oversees (from London and in our various regions as required):
Freshfields is a high-touch, intensely client-focused organisation. The Marketing and Business Development function operates in a fast-paced, demanding environment with many stakeholders, and in many ways the Public Relations team is on the front lines of this. There is a healthy component of “rolling up sleeves and doing” in the role.
There are many aspects of the role’s scope which will take the form of offering counsel and advice, so a collaborative, consultative, inclusive working style is paramount. Similarly, relationships and the ability to quickly grasp the subtler elements of the firm’s culture are essential.
There are significant delivery elements to the role, with significant numbers of press inquiries and multiple media channels to be managed and specific messaging strategies to be articulated and advanced in support of the firm’s business activities in a wide range of markets, sectors and practice groups.
The communications team also supports content development and press engagement for a wide range of thought leadership initiatives. This requires overseeing research, developing stories on the back of the findings, and placing these with journalists, all requiring sophistication in communications approach.
Also, because the firm benefits greatly when internal and external messaging is thoughtfully aligned, there is specific value in liaising extensively with those responsible for driving internal communications.
