Northants Auto Parts & Service Limited are a specialist supplier and installer of commercial and industrial vehicle components and accessories in Northampton, offering clients excellent solutions at competitive prices.We are now looking to recruit a Senior Auto Electricianwith extensive experience of working in an auto-electrical workshop. Someone with drive and enthusiasm who enjoys a challenge and is not afraid of hard work in all aspects of the job!
Our ideal Senior Auto Electrician will have a broad depth of knowledge and experience as an Auto Electrician working on a wide range of vehicles. An in-depth knowledge of the specialist equipment that is fitted to commercial as well as private vehicles, plus using diagnostic equipment to determine and rectify faults is a must.
Senior Auto Electrician essential requirements:
- Formal qualifications in auto electrical installations / repairs
- Able to read and understand wiring diagrams and schematics
- Good knowledge of legal requirements associate with vehicle modifications
- Good computer skills – particularly in Word and Excel
- Good knowledge of currently available automotive equipment, systems and accessories.
- Able to communicate clearly with customers, suppliers and other members of staff.
- Able to accurately prepare quotations, maintain records and develop management systems.
- Able to design installations, advise and instruct on correct methods of fitting and in-service use
- Able to carry out installation work yourself, fault find, and to advise and support staff working for you.
Senior Auto Electrician desirable requirements:
- Experience in most of the following would be a distinct advantage:
- Fitting and repairing night heaters and air conditioning units in commercial vehicles
- Split charging systems
- Inverters and mains wiring in vehicles
- Vehicle alarm systems
- Vehicle camera and recording systems
- Fitting light bars, beacons, work lamps, interior and exterior lighting systems
- Safety warning systems, buzzers and sirens
As this is a new position you will initially be involved in carrying out the current installation work for existing customers, supporting and assisting another auto-electrician in this work. You will also be expected to develop and implement systems for quoting for work (including diagnostics and repairs of private vehicles), work planning, maintaining records and running a successful workshop.
Your usual place of work will be our workshop in Northampton and hours of work (40 per week) are 8am - 5pm Monday-Friday. However, you would be expected on occasions to work overtime to meet customer deadlines.
