Autonomous Devices develops robotic solutions to extremely challenging problems, pushing the boundaries of what is possible to generate outstanding value for our customers. We are currently seeking a robotics engineer to help us develop cutting edge mobile robot systems for the Defence, Security and Energy sectors. As part of our growing team, successful candidates will get broad exposure to all facets of robotics, but specialisms of particular interest at the moment are mechanical and systems engineering.
- exciting opportunity with an expanding and dynamic company
- development of cutting edge mobile robotic systems including drones and crawlers
- based in Milton Keynes, a 40 minute train journey from central London
- flexible working and benefits
Applicants with a mechanical engineering specialism should have experience with the platform conceptual and detailed design process, rapid prototyping of mechanical systems, and mechanical test and evaluation. Of particular interest is any background in the design of air, ground or maritime vehicles (especially robotic vehicles), and a grounding in multi-disciplinary optimisation and fluid mechanics. A background in a CAD package such as SolidWorks or Inventor is essential, and experience of FEA would be viewed favourably.
Applicants with a systems engineering specialism should have experience in applying systems thinking to challenging multi-disciplinary engineering problems, with the ability to use systems engineering tools appropriate to the problem. We are looking for a practical understanding of electronics, experience with ROS or another middleware framework, and familiarity with data links, sensors and computing hardware for robotics. Some knowledge of programming in languages such as C/C++ and Python is required.
We are open to applicants with a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant discipline, and a background spanning multiple specialisms will be viewed favourably, as will any experience operating drones or other mobile robots in an experimental or production setting.
Our aim is to provide the conditions under which people excel naturally, with an emphasis on fostering personal responsibility, initiative and a growth mindset. We aim to support individual needs as much as possible, for example through flexible working and support for further education and training. We offer competitive salaries and are open to a wide range of experience levels - a key driver for us is ensuring a good mutual fit between the individual and the company.
Please note that we can currently only accept applications from candidates with a pre-existing right to work in the UK, who are able to commence work in the near future.
