Position Summary: Consisting of some 20 countries this key leadership role reports to the EMEA Region Controller with day-to-day focus on leading, managing and coordinating a team of professionals to ensure excellence in outcomes of both technical and operational delivery. Responsible and accountable for all financial accounting activities in the Southern Region including general accounting, financial reporting and financial systems interface. Highly visible role accountable and ultimately responsible for quality and accuracy of the financials, all related accounting decisions, integrity of internal control compliance, timeliness and quality of all routine submissions including statutory filings and internal and external audits. Responsible for the stakeholder support model and monitors to ensure high service quality and satisfaction. A champion and key enabler of Global Controllership Vision to build an Elite Organization. A team that delivers flexible ways-of-working and staffing models able to support changing operational priorities in a way that ensures consistent and high quality outcomes. Achieves and maintains sufficient awareness of country level risks, operational issues and challenges to allow for proactive intervention when required and provide detailed updates to senior management. Supporting Stakeholders: Articulates a clear stakeholder support model designed to maintain Controllership credibility by delivering high quality support while maintaining Controller independence. Sets clear targets that take account of differing priorities of stakeholders and holds Country Controllers accountable for the quality of support and overall stakeholder satisfaction. Builds relationships with all country level stakeholders, checks-in periodically and intervenes decisively when required. Able to articulate the current state of relationships to senior management. Builds strong understanding of the business of corporate stakeholders including an understanding of their Business operations, their priorities, risks and challenges sufficient to provide support to or on occasion step in for the Region Controller. Knows when and how to escalate issues through management to ensure proactive and decisive ownership and resolution of risks and issues. Day to Day Operations: Delivers country level day-to-day operations that ensures on time and high quality delivery of wide-ranging areas of activity including reporting, statutory accounts, regulatory challenges and treasury and tax matters. Accountable for the basics including the control environment, the trial balance, all accounting decisions and the quality of commentary, analysis and reporting. Accountable at all times for the robustness of and compliance with the control environment. Delivers high quality interactions with SOX function, Internal Audit and External Audit through high quality first-time-round deliverables while responding and resolving queries in a timely manner. Responsible for board memberships and associated meeting preparation and attendance and other administration responsibilities. Proactively identifies, owns and resolves risks and issues and informs or escalates to management when appropriate. Ability to quickly attain deep technical knowledge across multiple operating companies while actively cascading that knowledge to help build strong and well informed operational and project teams and stakeholders. Maintains a disciplined approach to budget management to ensure global targets are met. Driving Continuous Improvements: Responsible for continuously identifying more efficient and effective ways of operating to secure cross-opco efficiencies, reduce wastage, improve speed and enhance quality. Proactively supports the delivery of global improvement initiatives. Develops deep knowledge of country level systems and processes to ensure global processes and policies are followed at all times. Proactively manages the offshore and wider Accounting Operations relationship to drive improvements to all aspects of interactions with the function.Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics or similar discipline required. MBA or CPA preferred. Experience: 15+ years in finance with 5+ years management responsibilities. Knowledge and skills: Provides and oversees financial information for the region functions and infrastructure including firm wide initiatives. Ability to lead and drive change within a transforming and matrixed organization. Streamlines and standardizes financial activities and procedures to improve efficiency. Other requirements: Qualified Accountant (CPA) or MBA a plus.
