Project Quality Manager
Strategic business unit:
Meggitt Avionics located in Fareham between Southampton and Portsmouth on the UK's south coast, designs and manufactures flight deck avionics, data acquisition systems, instrumentation and life support equipment.
Meggitt Avionics´ aviation history spans a century and for the last 15 years we have pioneered solid state technology. Meggitt Avionics designs and manufactures aircraft sensors, displays and systems across three product groups: flight deck avionics, data acquisition systems and life support.
To take a proactive approach in the development and implementation of quality assurance to meet business, customer and regulatory needs
•Develop and handle all external QA interfaces within Engineering.
•Ensure engineering processes are measured for efficiency and effectiveness and the Business Management System is developed to ensure processes reflect best practice and can be applied effectively and consistently.
•Developing Quality Plans to satisfy stakeholder, contractual, and regulatory needs, and ensure the availability of approved project plans
•Auditing projects lifecycles to ensure compliance with plans and consistency with BMS processes.
•Ensuring customer requirements, design review criteria, and transition criteria are satisfied. [Systems, Software, Hardware, Mechanical Design and Development activities / NPI].
•Ensure the design life cycle data produced complies with the approved plans.
•Ensure items used for conformance assessment are built to comply with the associated life cycle data and conformity review is completed.
•Detect, manage, and agree deviations to the design process ensuring a consistent approach within the team
•Oversee all QA matters for all developments throughout the contract life-cycle.
•Establish, monitor, and develop customer / supplier QA relationships.
•Ensure design and development sub-contractors perform to contract and are compliant with plans.
•Lead and facilitate continuous improvement activities, internal and external. Providing coaching and mentoring in Quality methodologies to the QA team and wider business
•Report on QA matters to the Engineering Director.
Key skills and competencies required:
•Knowledge of civil and military aircraft component engineering and manufacturing environment, legislation, standards and requirements.
•An understanding of reliability engineering, APQP, PPAP, FMEA & SPC.
•Experience of operating in a Lean Manufacturing Environment / implementing NPI processes
•Able to carry out product and source acceptance tests both on-site or as part of an offsite working party
•Experience of quality management system process audits throughout an organisation including office areas, manufacturing, engineering, MRO, and completing product audits
•SIX Sigma practitioner: Yellow / Green Belt
•Knowledge of advanced problem solving tools such as design of experiments, analysis of variance
•Knowledge of TS16949, AS 9100, EASA Part 145 / 21G / J or O
•Knowledge of ARP4754 / D0178 / D0254
•Experience of Process mapping
•Experience of Value Stream Mapping
•IRCA qualified Lead Assessor
•Understanding differing quality models Baldridge award / EFQM etc
•Experience in measuring customer satisfaction.
•Experience of facilitating meetings with customers and suppliers.
