Product Category Specialist – Medical Devices & Consumables
•An experienced medical supplies Product Category Specialist to lead, shape and execute the trading strategy for all product categories, namely medical consumables, equipment and pharmaceuticals.
•To develop a robust set of category plans that will ultimately deliver the budgeted growth for each product area, working closely with the sales and marketing team.
•To be seen as ‘the’ category expert and go to person for all planning, whether promotional, strategic or tactical.
•Lead cross-functional implementation of the category plan working with, but not limited to, UK sales, marketing, Customer Pricing Analysts and Inventory Management, as well as working closely with the European Product Category Manager to identify synergies and formulate European supplier agreements
•Provide recommendations for future enhancements to the strategy, creative approach, production, offer and targeted market
•Meet with suppliers, existing and potential new partners to review performance and areas for improvement
•In conjunction with the Marketing Team, analyse customer buying behaviour and design strategies that drive sales of previously un-purchased products, utilizing the Salesforce Market Cloud software
•Deliver the agreed budget numbers for gross profit, revenue and product category growth
•Work closely with field team and National Sales Manager to identify customer needs, new product opportunities and competitor activity.
The Ideal Person:
•12 months experience of working on product category management within an NHS background
•At least 12 month’s experience in a similar role with knowledge of the NHS market, ideally experienced in point of care diagnostics and pharmaceuticals categories, with knowledge of medical equipment and consumables.
•Will look at Category Managers or Product Managers or possibly sales people who understand procurement and bids and tendering in NHS
•Proven experience of delivering product/category plans
•Excellent commercial knowledge/skills
•Excellent Communication Skills, both verbal & written
•Excellent Interpersonal Skills
