This role will work in tandem with our Core Engineering team and will have a real focus in the way that this team delivers new products. You will get the chance to change and drive value for our customers through the design and support of infrastructure solutions within this team. Focusing on the delivery of work within the sprint, you will also be architecting and designing network infrastructure to support business goals. Continuous Learning is a huge focus within this team and you will be a part of driving that culture to develop new skills with a real focus on automation and reliability engineering. This role is not only seen as vital to the bank but also very much needed across all our engineering teams to ensure standards and best practices are a common theme throughout. Key Skills: Minimum of 6 years applying engineering in a commercial environment Extensive experience as a Sysadmin, proven experience in in delivery or experienced 3rd line Support Experience architecting and designing network infrastructure Extensive work across Virtualisation (VMware, HyperV, XenServer, Containers, Serverless) Experience of building and supporting infrastructure solutions in traditional data centres and Cloud services (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) – ideally Azure Experience in PaaS and IaaS cloud solutions Infrastructure Automation and configuration management are key Scripting knowledge (JSON, Powershell, Bash, YAML) Proven experience of working within a DevOps/Agile environment Managing enterprise Storage technology A background in mentoring and coaching engineers and associate engineers across best practice. Responsibilities Include: Embrace and drive a continuous learning culture where the development of new skills and knowledge is paramount to the success. Taking a lead on delivery of work items in the sprint for the team working autonomously to engage key stakeholders, ensuring all decisions satisfy risk appetite and managing controlled delivery. Work closely with Project Managers, Business Analysts and other Managers to solve challenges and bring best practice to light. Provides role model leadership behaviours in communication, collaboration and the recognition and development of their team including regular performance and development conversations, in-time feedback and coaching. Design Network infrastructure to support the business goals and objectives while adhering to the IT architecture and Information Security principles Provide consultation to Project Managers, Business Analysts and Managers around current processes, best practices and ideas to solve business challenges Comply with the organisations Information Security Policy, and all subordinate policies and local procedures. Work with Lead and the wider team to ensure that technical debt and service improvement activities are prioritised. Get to know the wider business to better understand their goals and challenges including market activities. Provide strategic insight and input to the team in developing and enhancing strategies. Ensure clear documentation and commented code is in place for all tools/processes Help maintain relationships with 3rd parties that support and enable our business to ensure we are gaining maximum value.
