Regulatory Strategy & Operations Manager at Vrbo, an Expedia brand
We are looking for a Regulatory Strategy & Operations Manager focused on short-term rental regulations. Forward-based in Madrid, London or Geneva, you will understand and balance the needs of partners, travelers, and communities as the platform shapes and adopts new regulation across Europe, Asia Pacific, and Latin America.
You will influence senior leadership and maintain strong alignment with key departments to ensure our response to evolving regulations are well-planned, understood and effectively executed. You will partner with Regional Leaders, Product, Marketing, Customer Experience, Legal and Government Affairs to develop, monitor and augment strategy, collaborate on action plans, lead execution and track overall progress. You will champion the Vrbo value proposition and serve as the driving force behind the development of data and research assets, product features and key partnerships. This role will own the overall business impacts of regulation with a focus on the voice of our customers.
What you’ll do:
•Lead by example in demonstrating Vrbo’s commitment to communities and customers
•Prioritize initiatives through a strategic, regional and community lens
•Use data to evaluate the business impact of proposed and enacted regulations
•Develop and improve business processes to identify and prioritize regulatory opportunities
•Develop strategies and expertise in key markets
•Partner with Product and Engineering to develop scalable processes and tools while establishing a quality control feedback loop from customers and communities
•Help define team objectives and achieve key results
Who you are:
•Highly fluent in English. Spanish is a plus
•Bachelor’s degree (e.g. Business, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics) and relevant experience
•Experience working with e-commerce regulations or two-sided marketplace a plus
•Demonstrated record of creative and structured problem solving
•Able to translate operational performance and risks into financial implications
•Highly knowledgeable or interested in European, Asia Pacific and Latin American markets, culture and business protocol
•Proficiency with business intelligence and data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Looker), intermediate data analysis skills preferred
•You move quickly and deliberately, using data to guide decisions and testing to achieve breakthroughs
•You welcome new ideas and opinions, especially if they challenge your beliefs; actively listen with humility and respect
•You play to win and openly discuss competing priorities; unite the team to deliver results for our company and customers

•Willing to travel 25%+ as needed, both nationally and internationally
