We have a very exciting, brand new opportunity available in our team for you to fulfil the role of a Database Administrator. We are keen to continue growing our highly professional team with a forward-thinking philosophy. Agile methodology plays a key part in our day to day operations and working towards a true DevOps culture is critical to our continued success. New technology and innovation are therefore central; we actively encourage our team to explore new technologies continually improving our systems. Cloud infrastructure plays a large part in our ability to achieve this and as such a large proportion of the estate is hosted within Amazon Web Services. Working with the direction\support of our Senior Database Administrator (DBA) and as part of our wider Infrastructure team you will provide support and maintenance of our development, test and live databases. Our platforms include MySQL, Amazon Redshift, MSSQL and Oracle running internally. Gaining exposure to all aspects of database administration – e.g. installation/upgrade/patching, backup and recovery, performance and tuning, security, data loads and database copies, you will also run data fix scripts, daily checks (e.g. database backups), automating tasks, maintaining data feeds and investigating problems. A strong, demonstrable background in IT and particularly MySQL DBA is essential. However, if you have a proven interest in databases (such as Oracle or similar postgresSQL) and can demonstrate capabilities of managing MySQL with a firm enthusiasm around technologies (servers, storage systems, networks, “NoSQL” databases etc.) then we’d be very happy to hear from you. As we embark on an exciting period of change we are looking for someone who can challenge the way we do things, offering suggestions and solutions for how we can work better!
