Senior Journal Publishing Manager – Life Sciences
Oxford or Chichester
We are in one of the most dynamic periods in our history as technology, globalism and economic diversity create far-reaching changes in the world. The demand for knowledge and learning has never been greater, and Wiley is at the forefront of meeting that need. As a learning business, we make meaningful contributions to research discovery and lifelong learning by helping organisations achieve their goals and people achieve success from education through their career. We may have been founded over two centuries ago, but our secret to success remains the same: change with the times and adapt to meet the ever-evolving needs of our customers.
Wiley is one of the world’s leading scientific publishers. As a Senior Journal Publishing Manager, you’ll manage and develop a portfolio of earth science, food science and agronomy journals to make a difference in the world. Working collaboratively with smart, friendly and highly skilled colleagues across our global organisation, you will enjoy unrivalled scope to further develop your skills in communication, presentation, negotiation and relationship building. Crucially, you’ll also make an important contribution to the strategic development of our earth and environmental science portfolio and you will be instrumental to the provision of an excellent service to our authors, editors and society partners.
As an integral member of our enthusiastic and knowledgeable team, you will work closely with editorial colleagues in a broader life science programme as well as with scientific societies and academic editors. They will rely on your support to develop our journals and new business. As you get to know the communities your journals are serving, there will be opportunities to enhance and build on desk research and market analysis skills to develop and deliver the very best products.
Educated to degree level or equivalent, ideally in an earth science or life science discipline, you will have proven experience of working in publishing, with a flair for building relationships with editors and societies. Highly driven and well organised, you will have a strong focus on achieving goals. A personable individual, you will bring to the role excellent communication and networking skills. With a strong interest in the earth and environmental sciences, you are motivated by understanding the needs of researchers in these communities and placing them at the centre of what we do. You bring a commitment to deliver excellent service, aligned with strong business acumen and a collaborative approach. From producing compelling presentations to diplomatic negotiations, your communication skills - both in person and in writing - set you apart.
We work collaboratively across the globe, enjoy what we do and have opportunities to develop throughout our careers. Which means you can look forward to a competitive salary, and benefits including a defined contribution pension scheme and 25 days’ holiday. We’ll also support you to achieve relevant professional qualifications. People have always been valued at Wiley.
