We are currently looking for a Laboratory Metrologist to join our team based on site in Edinburgh. The successful candidate will be responsible for the timely calibration and routine maintenance of instruments, balances and other equipment used by the Quality Control and AR&D groups, ensuring regulatory compliance and that Standard Operation Procedures are technically sound at all times.
Schedule, execute and support instrument calibrations and preventative maintenance in addition to assuring instrument maintenance and usage logbooks are maintained.
Assist with the management of contracts with external vendors and contracted services as required, overseeing the work of contracted personnel to install/modify equipment and systems in accordance with the specific needs of the QC and AR&D groups while meeting all cGMP and EP/USP requirements.
Assist with internal and customer audits by providing relevant, up to date documentation related to calibration and maintenance of appropriate analytical instrumentation.
Assist with the process to evaluate, purchase and install new instrumentation, including interaction with internal and external vendors to ensure the proper instrumentation is identified to support the needs of the business.
Undertake and support instrument related investigations.
Ensure work and documentation is in compliance with all state and federal regulations, including but not limited to GMP, MHRA, DEA, FDA, etc.
Responsible for contributing to audit readiness and for participating in EH&S audits with internal Company groups, regulatory agencies, and customers.
Are you the ideal candidate?
You will have:
Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry or a related science.
Operation of HPLC and GCF familiarity with EP/USP and cGMP regulations.
Ability to exercise independent judgment in the application of scientific principles pertaining to analyses related to this business and operation.
Computer literacy and ability to effectively use software packages relevant to instillation, modification, calibration and qualification of instrumentation systems and equipment.
Strong communication skills.
Excellent organisational skills.
Experience in a cGMP environment is advantageous.
