Basic qualifications: • Experience working in the pharmaceutical practice of a strategy consulting firm, with a strong focus on R&D. • Experience disaggregating and diagnosing complex problems, systematically evaluating options, making a recommendation, and creating an implementation plan; demonstrated ability to thrive in ambiguous situations through a history of working on ill-defined projects. • Intellectual agility demonstrated through previous experience working on a wide range of business projects across the end-to-end pharmaceutical R&D cycle (from early discovery to late CMC); previous involvement in restructuring R&D organisations, including large-scale organisational design and roll-out; previous experience in business development (in/out-licensing), scientific collaborations, and outsourcing to CROs (including partner selection and management). • Project management experience including preparation of project plans using Microsoft Project, charters and STPs; proven ability to ensure that projects follow through to meet their objectives. • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, with experience performing complex business benefit analyses including quantitative cost-benefit modelling, ROI/payback modelling, and discounted cash flow (NPV/IRR) modelling and using these insights to guide investment case/business plan development and drive recommendations. • Experience critically analysing and interpreting large and small data sets from a variety of sources (e.g. resource distribution or pipeline data) and extracting key trends; experience using Spotfire software for data visualisation and analytics. • Experience designing and effectively using targets, KPIs, and metrics. • Ability to use story-telling to simplify complex information; demonstrated track record of writing high-impact (e.g. published) papers; experience presenting to CxO-level executives. • Experience with stakeholder management of diverse and senior (SVP-level) stakeholders in large organisations, including the use of stakeholder maps and engagement plans. • Demonstrated usage of change management principles and frameworks to transition teams from a current state to a desired future state. • Experience driving VP/SVP-level decision-making through effective meeting/workshop design, input, and facilitation. • Experience in matrix management of individuals; knowledge of when to use a coaching vs. managing approach. • MSc or PhD in drug development; deep knowledge of the drug development process including advanced drug discovery techniques and technologies; knowledge and experience working with advanced therapeutic modalities (biopharmaceuticals and cell/gene therapies).
