Working alongside an experienced team you will get involved with a vast array of development projects throughout the UK. Senior Waste Management Consultant – Manchester or Cheshire A Senior Waste Management Consultant is responsible for undertaking a variety of project, business development and training activities across the RSK Group of companies. These may include, applications for environmental permits, waste auditing, preparation of waste management plans and providing advice on compliance with waste management legislation and internal and external training and advice relating to other environmental disciplines (eg. environmental management systems). All project work must be carried out with due diligence, adherence to RSK internal procedures & completed within the given cost budgets and timescales agreed with the client. Good communication is required to inform/liaise with the client periodically with updates & any issues raised. It is expected that employees working at this grade will have project management and finance skills, be client facing, self-motivated, exhibit a proactive approach, and work well within a team environment. Responsibilities: Undertaking and managing environmental permit applications, variations and surrenders for various types of waste facilities (including landfill sites) Constructing waste recovery plans, preparing documentation to support End of Waste and WRAP protocol and advising on Waste Exemptions Undertaking waste compliance audits and providing innovative solutions to issues relating to waste management and disposal Providing technical authorship for the waste aspects of EIAs, NSIPs and other planning applications Providing internal and external training relating to waste legislation Undertaking Project Management duties and resolving any technical issues Writing factual and interpretative reports Person specification: BSc degree level qualified in Geology, Chemistry, Environmental Science / Management or a related subject essential Understanding of waste legislation and policy in the UK essential Knowledge of and significant experience in environmental (waste) permitting and management systems relating to various types of waste facilities essential Experience of undertaking waste compliance audits and providing guidance on waste legislation essential Ability to liaise with regulators, clients and suppliers essential Experience of preparing waste strategies, waste management plans and site waste management plans essential Experience of developing the waste aspects of environmental management systems and Environmental Impact Assessments essential Experience of undertaking waste assessments in compliance with WM3 desirable Knowledge and understanding of the Definition of Waste: Development Industry Code of Practice and WRAP aggregates protocol desirable Excellent verbal and written communication skills Prepared to work as part of a team or as an individual Candidates must be willing to spend some of their working days away from the office at meetings, on site and away from home at times.
