Management Accountant - Europe (Permanent)The role will be responsible for working closely with the Senior Finance Manager Europe Corporate to ensure the integrity of financial information in the statutory and management accounts for European businesses in UK and Germany.
This is a developmental role that could lead to further career opportunities available within the group.
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
Manage the accounts (statutory and management) for European businesses in UK and Germany by doing the following key tasks:• Completing month end processes for group reporting, including:o Accruals and Prepayments o Fixed asset accounting including register maintenance o Standard vs. actual costs analysiso GP Analysiso Royalty analysis together with the royalty accountso Balance sheet reconciliations of key accounts• Assist with preparation of the monthly reporting pack (including month end commentary on overhead costs, capex, AR at risk and inventory)• Variance analysis of actual results versus budget / forecasts with particular focus on royalties, GP and overhead expenses. Understanding and investigating any material discrepancies • Other month end processes as required • Responsibility for managing the Chart of Accounts including GL account set up, sub-ledgers, profit centres and cost centres in SAP• Weekly cash flow reporting for the GBG Treasury• Production of monthly management accounts • Compliance reporting, completion of the quarterly VAT returns, the quarterly EC Sales listing • Assist in project work relating to the Finance team as and when required
Strategy & Innovation:The successful candidate should have the ability to do the following;• Analyze financial data and draw sound conclusions and proposals.• Review and improve financial reporting processes• Interpret technical IFRS standards but have ability to implement new accounting policies in a commercial environment and apply / implement new policy to real situations. • Provide complete and accurate information for month end and statutory reporting highlighting issues and trends for entities included in Europe Corporate Finance function• Review financial control processes for European businesses in UK and Germany and make recommendations on improvements• Work with the European Finance Team to ensure that a strong control environment is maintained
Operations & Results:• Ensure that monthly management accounts for European businesses in UK and Germany are prepared on time• Prepare GP analysis by customer, brand and product for UK A&A business• Ensure that the weekly order book in is updated with the latest known delivery and shipments dates for the UK A&A business• Ensure that quarterly VAT filings and reconciliations for European businesses in UK and Germany are prepared on time• Ensure that weekly cash flow forecasts for European businesses in UK and Germany on time• Work with the Greensboro / Panyu Share Service Centre to ensure that supplier payments for European businesses in UK and Germany are made on time• Work with the Licensing Team to prepare and maintain the MG tracker for European businesses in UK and Germany • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliation binder with reconciliations for all key accounts for European businesses in UK and Germany• Review the bank and creditors reconciliations prepared by Greensboro / Panyu Share Service Centre to ensure that it is prepared correctly• Prepare inter-company reconciliations and ensure that out of balances are investigated and cleared for European businesses in UK and Germany • Support European Finance reporting requirements and the annual budgeting, forecasting and strategic planning processes. • Prepare management reports of actual versus budget analysis of overhead costs by cost centre and explain all material variances• Prepare the statutory accounts using Thompson Reuters One Source for UK statutory accounts production• Assist with ad hoc European reporting task, as required
Customers & Relationships:• Assist the European Finance team to manage relationships statutory auditors • Manage relationships with GBG employees by ensuring that expense claims are paid on time and payroll is managed correctly• Manage relationships with business unit heads through details actual versus budget analysis of overhead costs by cost centre and explain all material variances• Manage relationships with suppliers through professional communication and proactive management of payments• Develop strong working relationships with Greensboro / Panyu Share Service Centre and GBG treasury• Develop strong working relationships with Europe Finance Team

Skills and Requirements
Skills & Qualifications:• Qualified Accountant (ACCA/CIMA) or Final level Part Qualified• University degree is considered favourably• Familiar with the latest developments in IFRS and UK GAAP• Language skills to deal with businesses in different European markets is considered favorably• Basic knowledge of SAP and AX is considered favourably• Understanding of retail and wholesale business• Solid accounting and control background.• Strong Excel and experience of Word is essential • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.• Diligent with good attention to detail.• Proven track record of identifying and remediating accounting issues• Willingness to learn, develop and understand the business
