Our client has been established for more than a century and are renowned globally as a market leader in their specialist field, and as a result of continued success and a recent positive restructuring process are urgently seeking to recruit a highly self-motivated, dynamic and proactive Logistics Supervisor to complement their highly professional team.
Reporting to the Logistics Manager, the successful Logistics Supervisor candidate will be responsible for leading the whole logistics process for both inbound and outbound deliveries to enhance the company's reputation for quality and on time delivery and to ensure business growth targets are met, whilst forecasting the number of loads required and maximising load space and geographical locations to minimise costs.
Based in Coventry, you will also monitor and highlight any areas impacting on additional costs or any cost saving opportunities against haulage / freight budgets and will support the Logistics Manager to achieve the daily work list and priorities in relation to the movements of stock in order to ensure goods are received, correctly located in the warehouse and dispatched appropriately to meet and exceed productivity targets.
Critical for success in this varied Logistics Supervisor role is demonstrable experience gained in a manufacturing environment, experience of logistics and of KPI's associated with them both - and experience of cost reduction and continuous improvement activities as well as an appreciation of freight and transport.
An excellent communicator at all levels, you will supervise, motivate, inspire and challenge the team to deliver consistently high results and help drive maximum productivity and service, in line with KPI's and operational targets, and will devise Logistic operational SOP's whilst ensuring they are followed and adhered to. You will be responsible for the development and implementation of a plan aligning each of the areas within your responsibility to achieve delivery of pre-agreed targets (in £value, delivery accuracy and speed, haulage, waste and ERP utilisation) and will communicate with the team at regular reviews and ensure any training identified is specific and meets the current and future needs of the operation.
Other duties will include engaging in the recruitment process and controlling labour costs using workforce planning tools and supporting other Team Leaders in managing resources, to maximise productivity whilst minimising costs, conducting quality checks on products at time of receipt from supplier and during the storage period and reporting any instances of noncompliance to the Supply Chain Manager, utilising space efficiently whilst also ensuring quality, budgetary targets and environmental objectives are met, and keeping stock control systems up to date and making sure inventories are accurate.
You will be responsible for ensuring highest levels of service and productivity KPIs are achieved and maintained consistently, timely processing of receipt, storing and dispatch of all goods issues to internal and external customers ensuring 5 S principles and transactions are completed at all times using ERP, and identifying root causes of stock discrepancies if required.
To be considered for this extremely varied and challenging role, it is envisaged that the successful candidate will be degree qualified or equivalent in a relevant Business Administration, Logistics or Supply Chain qualification and demonstrate a "can do" attitude with exceptional communication and influencing skills. Experience of utilising ERP and working within strict budgetary and timescale constraints is essential - as is the ability to lead and motivate whilst paying meticulous attention to detail
