Kennedys is looking for a Legal Assistant to provide proactive and efficient paralegal, secretarial and administrative support to the Bermuda office, working alongside a busy team of Partners, Lawyers and Business Services team.
The successful Legal Assistant will be able to handle working under pressure, whilst still maintaining excellent attention to detail and in accordance with tight deadlines. The ideal candidate will be willing and responsive to providing adhoc and administrative support the Bermuda office.
Kennedys Chudleigh Ltd. is a Bermuda law firm and the associated Bermuda office of global law firm, Kennedys. Our team of legal experts have in-depth international and local experience, having practised 'onshore' and 'offshore', both as barristers and advocates and as solicitors and attorneys.
The Bermuda team undertakes a wide range of claims and litigation, arbitration and mediation, as well as corporate, commercial and regulatory advice to insurers, reinsurers and other organisations across a range of industries.
- Assist in the handling of litigation, including bundle preparation, completing template documentation and similar in relation to the preparation of claims and litigation as directed by the Lawyers.
- Have responsibility for certain low value claims which follow a set process and procedure under the close supervision of the Lawyers.
- Prepare and lodge court or corporate/Land Registry filings and searches and as instructed by the Lawyers
- Conduct legal research and any other client work as requested by the Lawyers
- Develop the team’s knowledge management in close liaison with the Partners.
- Maintain the library and all online knowledge management services and licences.
- Previous experience in a law firm, ideally with some experience in litigation
- Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to manage own time, excellent organisation skills
- Demonstrable attention to detail skills.
