LEGAL ASSISTANT, EASTBOURNE
SALARY £18,000 + per annum depending on experience
Our client, Quality Solicitors Barwells, part of the leading household name for legal services in the UK offering legal advice and help to both individuals and businesses in East Sussex, are looking to recruit a Full Time Legal Assistant to work in their Family and Litigation Department based at their Eastbourne office.
The primary function of the role; to provide direct support to the Principal to enable the Principal to operate at optimum efficiency.
The main areas of responsibility within this role are:
•To prepare correspondence and documents including audio-typing and word processing in accordance with Case Management systems as appropriate;
•To administer filing which will include daily filing and the opening, closing, storage and retrieval of client files in accordance with the detailed procedures contained on the Intranet;
•To prepare mail and enclosures for despatch;
•To arrange for all copying to be done;
•To make appointments, arrange meetings and to maintain an up-to-date diary for his/her Principal;
•To prepare the Conference Room for meetings as necessary and for the tidying and clearance of the room at the end of the meeting;
•To provide refreshments when asked to do so;
•To provide support to other assistants as required;
•To provide guidance to junior assistants and temporary secretaries when required to do so;
•To attend clients both in person and on the telephone and to provide such support in a professional and friendly manner in keeping with the firm’s standards for client care;
•To undertake any specific training when required to do so and overall to have a responsibility towards self-development;
•Other duties commensurate with the post as designated from time to time by the Partnership;
•To secure the confidentiality and security of the firm’s client documentation and information
Qualifications & Experience:
•Qualifications in Maths and English;
•Able to use own initiative and take ownership of tasks;
•Demonstrate a good level of ICT skills, particularly in the use of Microsoft Office;
•Be highly organised with an ability to see tasks through to completion;
•Good interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively with other team members as well as the public both face to face and over the telephone;
•Possess excellent keyboard / word processing skills;
•Good administrative experience.
