Pre 16 Learning Mentor Location: Trowbridge 30 hours p/week, Term Time Only (36 weeks p/year) Fixed Term Salary: £16,928 pro rata (£11,348 per annum) Wiltshire College & University Centre is the main provider of further and higher education in Wiltshire and is fast on its way to becoming outstanding having achieved a good Ofsted grade in June 2018. Based across the county on 2 main campuses and with 4 smaller centres, the College offers an extensive range of courses at all levels and has ambitious plans for growth in a region with exciting potential. We are currently seeking a Pre 16 Learning Mentor to join our Trowbridge Campus on a fixed term basis. The key purpose of this role is to support students in their transition into college and ensure that the college meets its contractual agreements with schools by liaising closely with schools and curriculum departments to maximise the retention and successful progression of 14-16 students. Within this role you will be required to participate in the recruitment and guidance process, deliver personalised 1:1 or group sessions with identified students and advise tutors on appropriate ways to support students. The successful candidate will hold literacy and numeracy qualifications at Level 2, and an appropriate level 4 qualification (such as Counselling, Youth Work, Mentoring, Social Work) would be advantageous. Experience of supporting young people with learning or behavioral difficulties is essential, and the successful candidate will have excellent communication skills with the ability to develop and maintain good professional relationships with key stakeholders.
