Laboratory Technician II (Biochemicals) - (CAM-44-78)
About the RoleAs our team continues to grow, we are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Laboratory Technician II to join our in-house manufacturing team on a permanent basis. This is a lab -based role where you will be responsible for contributing to the weighing, timely delivery and quality control of our high purity range of Agonists, Activators, Antagonists and Inhibitors.
This role reports into the Biochemicals Senior Scientist, Quality Control and will be working closely with quality control scientists and technicians. The candidate will ideally start as soon as possible.
About the In-house Manufacturing Team at AbcamThe In-house Manufacturing Team works closely with other teams across the business to deliver high quality publishable data. Essential skills include an understanding of instrumental analytical techniques, a keen eye for detail and the ability to learn new procedures.
Key Responsibilities:• Take responsibility for the safe weighing of sensitive chemicals, ensuring customers receive only high-quality products
• Primary responsibility for routine lyophilisation and accurate preparation of chemical stock
• Co-ordinate external sample analysis with collaborators
• Organise, plan and carry out routine HPLC testing for the duration of product lifetimes
• Prepare exact chemical formulations and solutions to customer requirements
• Maintain accurate records, generate batch data and create CoAs
• Assist with process optimisation activities and quality improvement initiatives
• Use your skills and knowledge to support wider teams as the need arises
• Contribute to housekeeping tasks in the laboratory
• Ensure compliance with quality policies, SOPs and Health and Safety procedures
About YouYou will be educated to degree level or equivalent in analytical chemistry, or a related discipline. Previous experience working in a laboratory that handles chemicals or their analysis is desirable, and you will be expected to demonstrate knowledge of safe laboratory practices.
You will have a good understanding of the practical and theoretical aspects of chemical quality control, particularly UV-HPLC. Knowledge of complimentary analyses (including but not limited to Mass Spectrometry, Microanalysis, NMR, Amino acid analysis and TLC) would be highly beneficial. You need to be a confident user of MS Office applications and familiarity with Agilent ChemStation software would be ideal.
You will be an enthusiastic team-player, with excellent written and verbal communication skills. You will be organised, able to work independently when required and focussed on delivering only the best to our customers.
