Practice and Role Summary
Freshfields’ Global Transactions practice brings together lawyers specialising in corporate, finance and real estate in a transactional practice group, working collaboratively to provide the best transactional advice to clients. Within Global Transactions, Freshfields’ private equity practice is a market leader in Europe and a growth area for the firm. With an impressive client list of top tier global financial investors, Freshfields advises on many of the highest-profile, most cutting-edge and most complex deals in the private equity market. Ranked Band 1 in Chambers & Partners in Europe, the UK and Germany, and Tier 1 in the Legal 500 for the UK and Germany, the market standing of the practice is also shown in league tables: over the past 5 years, Freshfields have advised on over 745 private equity transactions across Europe worth a combined US$491 billion – more than any other firm.
The Knowledge Lawyer will focus on private equity and infrastructure. They will deliver leading-edge know how to fee earners in London and across the firm’s global network to maximise efficiency and minimise risk in line with business priorities. In addition to private equity, the role will also involve coverage of general English corporate and company law.
In London, one of Freshfields’ four corporate teams has a core private equity focus, and the Knowledge Lawyer will be part of this team. Although based in the London office, the Knowledge Lawyer will have a global remit, supporting practitioners working on private equity and infrastructure transactions, and for financial investor clients, across the firm. They will drive the creation and dissemination of appropriate knowledge products reflecting key legal and market developments, and deliver, develop and enhance the knowledge function in line with the firm's goals. They will develop their own skills as well as guiding, coaching and motivating others.
In addition to supporting partners and other fee earners in the firm’s Global Transactions practice, the Knowledge Lawyer’s role will also be external-facing, for example by identifying opportunities for client-facing knowledge products and events, and producing thought leadership.
They will be one of a team of Knowledge Lawyers in Global Transactions, each specialised in a different product area across corporate, finance and real estate.
