On learning how to run your desk, you will quickly move towards being trained as a Recruitment Manager responsible for building your own division. Recruitment requires huge amount of tenacity so you MUST be able to demonstrate experience of this type in some way.
Whether that be gaining a degree against all odds, playing a sport at an incredibly high level or sticking with a difficult job despite its challenges; it doesn't really matter as long as you can demonstrate tenacity in some way.

Although a degree would be preferable, it is certainly not essential.
Recruitment is a phone based service/sales role so some form of phone based experience or retail experience would also be ideal but again not essential.
