The New York Law Journal, the largest legal daily newspaper in the U.S., is looking for a summer intern. The ideal candidate has the ability and experience to understand complex matters and to write about them quickly, clearly, and well. We want someone who is a team player and has a passion for writing, reporting and the law. The candidate who is chosen will have an opportunity to cover all aspects of New York’s legal community—court cases and rulings, news from law firms, legal trends, profiles of newsmakers and the like, and may assist with some administrative tasks to help attorneys, judges and court employees learn about happenings in their community. The 10-week full-time internship pays $15 per hour. The intern will report directly to the deputy editor-in-chief. Experience writing breaking news and feature stories for a daily student newspaper or student-run website A law school student with a journalism undergrad degree and/or newspaper writing experience, or journalism grad student An ability to write clearly, engagingly and authoritatively—and on a deadline Strong reporting and writing skills Please send your resume, cover letter and 5 writing samples.
