Platform as a Service (PaaS) – Middleware Security&Control PaaS is responsible for the provision and management of five key technology services: Middleware – Mainframe – Midrange – Database Services – Dataware Services Middleware Security & Control is responsible for: Security of Middleware against external or internal threat vectors Advice, governance and conformance against standards and industry best practice Technical maintenance and full end to end lifecycle activity for the Barclays Middleware Estate Discovery and reporting of Middleware software components and evidence of secure controls “Front door” for all Middleware risk, audit and regulatory engagements and activities Role Purpose The Infrastructure Analyst is responsible for supporting the IT discovery and inventory management capability of Middleware to deliver an accurate understanding of the estate across Live, DR and Test environments Key Accountabilities Discovery, analysis and reporting of Middleware deployed components Inventory data analysis and MI generation providing the foundations for security, audit, compliance and estate lifecycle activities Partnership with Middleware Commercial Management and Component teams on “true ups” of Middleware deployments against licence entitlement Understanding of the differentiation between Middleware owned and Business aligned technology software Support the implementation of processes required to maintain the asset register leveraging existing data sources Strong communicator with the ability to communicate at all levels (technically, business, audit, senior stakeholders) Good verbal and written communication skills Ability to build relationships and collaborate with other teams Act as conduit between internal risk functions and Middleware technology teams in relation to deployed products Ability to make decisions and solve problems based upon considered options and evidence Awareness of risk/cost drivers and how these may influence risk appetite Innovative and creative when faced with complex technical tasks Able to prioritise and multi-task to reach desired business outcomes Person Specification Good technical knowledge of the differing operating system platforms used at Barclays (AIX, Linux, Windows, Mainframe) Knowledge of Middleware software versions, currency and lifecycle management Understanding of the different software licence metrics and how usage is calculated across different infrastructure technologies and Vendors Excellent data analysis skills Strong knowledge of Barclays tooling used of inventory management.
