Human Factors Specialist Salary: Competitive + benefits Location: Scunthorpe Closing Date: Tuesday 01 January 2019 What you need to know about the role You will provide Human Factors support and expertise to the British Steel Business Units to allow the development of the Businesses capability to effectively manage Human Factors related risks. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Strategy Develop, own and communicate Human Factors standards and action plans for specialist topics (i.e. Hazard identification, Risk assessment, Task Analysis, Emergency Response, Procedural Support systems, Communication Systems & Protocols, Incident Investigation techniques, etc.) Continuous Improvement Maintain up to date knowledge and professional competence in Human Factors management to include legislative requirements and industry best practice. Advisory Service Provide a professional Human Factors advisory service in British Steel that supports Directors, Managers and Engineers in their responsibilities with respect to Human Factors. Lead Human Factors risk assessments (Human Hazops) and Task Analysis within British Steel. Assist in the review of existing Human Factors Assessments Monitor for Compliance Undertake audits to ensure standards are being met consistently across the business. People Determine competence requirements for British Steel personnel with regard to Human Factors speciality and advice and/or deliver appropriate training and development. Coach and mentor Process Safety Specialists, Works managers, Works engineers in the application of the Human Factors standards and principals. What we need to know about you You will have a Chemical or Engineering background within similar industry and or recognised Human Factors Academic qualifications, Externally accredited Human Factors Training. Plant Operations Experience in a line based role - at least one of the following aspects:- Operations or Technical management in HHIs Engineering or Maintenance management HHIs Process safety consultancy Process Safety Engineer Several high hazard processes Several industries Plus proven experience in a previous Human Factors Role.
