Finance Manager – London (Permanent)
A great opportunity has arisen for the position of a Finance Manager for an excellent Higher Education institution in Central London. Reporting into the Division Manager you will pro-actively manage the division’s finances. This will include forecasting, monitoring income and expenditure and providing reports detailing financial information. The job holder will also manage a small team whilst playing a key role in supporting and maintaining the expansion of the academic activities of the division. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•Working with the Division Manager to prepare the annual budget to meet targets and achieve the division's stated plans
•Production of regular financial management information and monitoring outturns against plans, updating forecasts
•Reviewing income and expenditure projections for the division, ensuring these accord with other sources of information and that all income is correctly received
•Reporting monthly the financial status, with explanations for variances as required
•Regular monitoring of departmental accounts, ensuring that, where necessary, explanations and remedial actions for projected overspends are provided by budget holders
•Overseeing the administration and review of grants, consultancy projects and studentships.
•Costing applications for research funding, ensuring that applications are accurately costed, and that overhead recovery is maximised as required
•Providing assistance to the Division Manager with the financial aspects of strategic plans
•Responsible for the implementation and promotion of universities financial policies and procedures, adherence to existing regulations and development and review of local policies and procedures.
•Collecting and confirming data required for internal and external returns.
•Ensuring that month and year-end accounting procedures are processed in an efficient and timely manner in accordance with set deadlines
Knowledge and Experience:
•Experience of reconciliation and data analysis
•Experience of working in a management accounting or auditing environment, within a large and complex organisation
•Education to degree level or equivalent
•Experience of working in an academic or similar institution
•Record of successful line management and development of staff
