Chilled and ambient food manufacture, site going through significant investment with new lines - significant support and development supported by the global group business.
Monday to Friday days based.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Factory General Manager, the Engineering Manager is responsible for managing and leading the overall site Engineering Function and delivery of the Engineering plan, ensuring that it is operated effectively and in a cost effective manner.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
Continue the transformation of the engineering function from a Reactive to a Proactive one
Reduction in Breakdown and AdHoc Jobs
Increase in Planned works
Ensure structures, people and actions in place to deliver Site and Engineering objectives.
Translate Engineering Strategy to a site level and deliver.
Continue development and delivery of a structured maintenance plan in line with production and planning requirements. Engineering stores supports maintenance plan in line with agreed budget
Engineering KPI’s are in place to track improvement areas and drive correct behaviours. Periodic reviews to ensure KPI’s are relevant
KPI’s in place
Leading the team to identify and deliver projects to improve operational performance measures (reliability, performance & quality)
OEE improvement
Management of the Engineering team to ensure it is effective
All KPI’s trend positive
100% KPMS on time
Management of Service Contracts. This will include:
<5% Downtime
100% Maintenance Schedule adherence
Lead Knowledge Transfer Project. Develop Operator and Technician Up-skilling programme to transfer tasks from Engineering to Operations team (i.e changeovers, routine maintenance)
Allocated tasks are transferred to plan
Increase in planned works by Engineering Team
Reduction in Breakdown and AdHoc Jobs
Effective use of in-house labour and external contractors to balance cost/timeliness of maintenance activities or improvement projects
>90% WO Completion to due date
Budgetary control of Engineering budget.
Budget to 0 at year end.
Identify capital projects to improve efficiency/infrastructure/H&S
2 projects identified per year
Ensure Business Excellence (Lean) is embedded in site i.e. analysing performance & identify priority areas of focus: Use DRM's, Root cause analysis.
Set a high level of engineering standards required from the engineering team and lead by example.
Ensure Food Safety Standards maintained/improved
Engineers/Contractors do not pose a food safety/H&S risk
100% Food Safety Incidents and corrective actions are completed in timely manner
Delivery of Site Capital Plan
Plan delivered to time, cost and spec
Promoting a safe working environment & ensure colleagues are aware of their Health & Safety responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL / DESIRABLE SKILLS, COMPETENCIES AND QUALITIES
Essential
- Engineering Qualifications in mechanical/electrical disciplines
- Solid experience of Engineering Team Management in FMCG
- Experience of setting and achieving KPI’s
- Experience of using and developing CMMS system to improve asset availability
- H&S Qualification (IOSH etc)
- Food Experience
- Experience of Capital Delivery
Desirable
- Currently in post as Engineering Manager
- 5yrs Food Experience
- Degree Qualified
- Experience of setting up CMMS systems
- Successful delivery of CI projects
- Training/Experience of TPM methods
