We are seeking a Senior Applications Engineering Manager at our Cambridge headquarters to manage a worldwide team of Applications Engineers delivering support and services associated with Media IP products (GPU, Video and Display Processors). The role involves an amount of inter-continental travel to customer sites, especially in China and Taiwan, negotiation with customers on the scope of support activities and close management of engineers who are currently deployed to customer sites. An exceptional customer presence is essential, along with the ability to think and act as the interface between remote customers and centrally located teams. The successful candidate will also exert significant influence within the Media Engineering leadership team, driving product and process improvements through strongly representing the experience of our customers. Qualifications Post graduate degree in Computer Science. Experience Leadership of a cross functional team of hardware and software engineers, in an embedded graphics/multimedia context. Development and applications engineering experience in 2D/3D graphics technology and standards such as OpenGL, OpenGL ES, and EGL. In depth knowledge of GPU, CPU and Media codec architecture with a demonstrably excellent understanding of the interaction between software and hardware. In depth experience of customer and sales interactions gained through Technical Support, Product Deployment and Field Application roles Experience of running a customer focussed engineering team. Knowledge of industry standard simulation and implementation flows for ASIC and FPGA development from major EDA vendors. Extensive experience of leading in a multi-time zone and distributed team environment. Experience of working to solve deeply technical matters in the worldwide context, especially between Europe and Mandarin Chinese speaking countries. Experience in Video technologies and standards such as OpenMax, H.264, HEVC Experience of embedded operating systems, device drivers, microprocessor and embedded system hardware architectures. Knowledge of heterogeneous compute, ideally GPGPU/OpenCL. Fluent Mandarin Desirable Experience in ISP technologies and deployments including sensor design, 3A algorithms and IQ tuning Knowledge of Microsoft multimedia standards. Personal Requirements Must be able to travel on a regular basis, and potentially for extended periods Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills with both colleagues and customers, including good written and spoken English. Must thrive working in high-pressure customer environments, potentially alone. Must be proactive in obtaining engineering or management input, either ARM’s or the customer’s, to complete tasks in a timely and accurate manner. Must have the desire and ability to solve problems quickly. Must be enthusiastic and well driven. Must be able to schedule own workload and plan tasks – based on both internal and customer requirements. Must have good inter-personal skills, and be able to work well within a multinational team; especially when under pressure. Must be willing to be flexible and accept new challenges. Must be familiar with British, US and Chinese business cultures.
