Here at Bristol Water our Capital Projects team design, project manage and supervise the construction and renovation of a wide range of assets, including pumping stations, treatment works, distribution systems and buildings. As Project Engineer (Electrical) within the Capital Projects team, you will be developing the requirements from project briefs into detailed designs, specifications or further packages of work to enable multi-disciplinary contract packages to be put together for tender. You will play a crucial role in this team and our business, as you will provide electrical engineering expertise to engineering projects. You will have responsibility for determining and evaluating designs and safe working practices relating to the installation and modification of: * Electrical process instrumentation, control and automation systems, * Industrial power supply systems at LV and HV * PLC-based control systems * Building Services, * Lightning & surge protection systems * On-site power generation systems You will utilise and develop your skills in the application of electrical theory, regulations, standards and safe working practices. You will be expected to become a Bristol Water Appointed Person for the issue of electrical permits. You will support the Senior Project Manager in the delivery of projects including taking on formal contractual roles and supervising and managing consultants and contractors- including the review of claims and variations and resolving technical queries. You will be responsible for ensuring that the electrical aspects of projects are properly documented. Additionally, you will need to be aware of practical installation issues as you will offer site advice in relation to electrical installations and successful commissioning of new equipment into existing systems. What we are looking for … We need someone with proven experience with electrical design, installation, commissioning and handover in a project delivery environment. You will have experience with; The design and installation of industrial power supplies and three-phase motor controls Electrical instrumentation and control systems Building Services The design and/or installation of Lightning Protection and Surge Protection systems The design or installation of Standby generation and synchronisation systems High Voltage Electrical systems and safe systems of work, existing or previous holder of an Appointed Person position would be an advantage Experience in the use of various forms of contracts You will have a HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical related degree / certificates – or HNC with suitable level of equivalent experience and competencies In order to be successful in this role you will be proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel and you must have AutoCAD basic skills and be able to use proprietary cable sizing software. Knowledge of the application of design tools such as lighting design systems would be an advantage Preferably you will be an Incorporated engineer or working towards incorporated status and you should have City & Guilds 2382 or similar accredited competency in the application of BS7671.
