Job Role Summary
We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced ElectricalEngineer to join our team at Fawley Refinery and Chemical Plant. The largest refinery in the UK, Fawley is a combined refining, lubricants and chemicals manufacturing site which is located on the south coast of England, on the edge of the New Forest National Park.

Job Role Responsibilities
Electrical Engineers are responsible for providing specialist engineering, technical and safety orientated support to the Process and Maintenance Teams in matters relating to electrical engineering systems, equipment and operation. The key responsibilities of the Electrical Engineer are to:
- Provide specialist electrical engineering advice and recommendations to the Process and Maintenance Departments, on day to day matters such as:ensuring electrical supply meets demand; equipment failures; investigations; equipment strategies; and reliability improvements.
- Provide professional electrical engineering support for projects, includin the preparation of screening studies, design bases and specifications for specialist projects.
- Provide professional electrical engineering support and recommendations to management on electrical safety, infrastructure and technology issues.
The successful candidate will work with a small team, which is part of the larger Fawley Area Engineering Service (FAES) Department. The FAES Department comprises of approximately 100 multidisciplinary engineers and technicians, and provides technical support across the Fawley refining and petrochemical facility.

Expected Level of Proficiency
To be eligible for this role, you must:
- Hold an engineering degree in electrical engineering.
- Be, or be working towards being, a Chartered Engineer, as defined by the Engineering Council or equivalent.
- Have relevant electrical engineering experience in an operational environment in a heavy industry (five years+ as a guide). Candidates with less than five years' experience will also be considered if their experience is relevant.
- Be familiar with relevant legislative requirements, particularly the Electricity at Work Regulations, 1989.
Candidates should also have demonstrated experience of:
- Troubleshooting and fault finding electrical equipment
- Working with high voltage switchgear
- Working with UPS's (Uninterruptable Power Supply)
- Working with relay protection systems
- Supporting major maintenance activities e.g. plant shutdowns
Candidates who do not hold a degree in electrical engineering will also be considered where they:
- Have a relevant electrical maintenance or engineering qualification at Higher National Diploma level or above
- Can demonstrate on-going professional development / learning over multiple years, including currently working towards an engineering degree in electrical engineering, or an equivalent subject
- Have a high degree of relevant experience in electrical engineering and / or maintenance on aheavy industryfacility, meeting the experience requirements set out above.
Successful candidates should possess a broad range of personal effectiveness and leadership skills, with the ability to facilitate and influence business decisions in a team environment.
The first round of the interview process will be a telephone interview. Successful candidates will then be invited to final round interviews, comprising both technical and competency based assessments, following this.

Successful candidates will be made a conditional offer of employment.
