As an Editorial Assistant within our Oxford-based team, you will assist the Publisher and Associate Editor in the commissioning and development of book publishing programmes, mainly in Philosophy but with some wider responsibilities in Social Science. Your role will involve managing and implementing the administrative processes for commissioning books and list management; ensuring internal systems are updated and maintained; collaborating closely with authors, editors and contributors in order to provide them with a high level of editorial service; drawing up, issuing and tracking contracts; liaising with marketing, content capture and production; briefing cover designs and copywriters; and handling post-publication work including complimentary copies and payments. You’ll be an intellectually sharp individual with a genuine interest in growing your career in publishing. Some experience in publishing supported by a degree in a relevant field would be an advantage. Detail-driven, highly efficient and an expert in MS Office applications, you’ll be adept at prioritising to deadline, pulling together resources and managing your workload. Your ability to share knowledge and grow strong relationships will be critical to your success, so you’ll be a proactive communicator who takes pride in building rapport with authors and colleagues.
