Abcam is searching for anenthusiastic, seasoned Director of eCommerce who can lead the development of its online channels to drive near and long term revenue growth. This includes taking overall responsibility for our Digital Marketing including SEO, PPC and other forms of online advertising as well as optimization and development of the website. The Director of eCommerce will have direct line management of the current performance marketing, website product owner and UX design groups. They will be expected to work closely with category managers, IT and other marketing functions to deliver on the company’s strategy and objectives. The role is ideal for someone who is results and data driven, has a strong retail ecommerce background, enjoys being agile, and a track record of leading teams and partnering well with developers and technology counterparts.
Roles & responsibilities:
- Develop, plan and execute the eCommerce strategy; measure results of implemented projects and respond appropriately
- Lead, motivate and line manage the existing eCommerce group
- Identify, recommend and prioritize features and capabilities on Abcam’s consumer facing website
- Act as the central point of contact and champion for the Abcam website and Abcam’s digital marketing
- Responsible for the effective communication of eCommerce activities to the rest of the group including our overseas offices
- Balance and prioritise how eCommerce department resource is utilized and responsibility for managing the eCommerce budget
- Primary recruiting manager for future eCommerce positions
You have a bachelors degree (STEM degree, a plus) along with extensive experience working in digital, tech, marketing and/or ecommerce. You are analytical, creative and innovative with the ability to solve business problems and confidently make decisions. You are experienced in line managing teams and individuals to perform at their best – this includes giving clarity on people’s roles, setting objectives, monitoring performance, and coaching and developing people where needed. You thrive working in a collaborative environment and are comfortable leading group discussions and brainstorming activities.
You will have knowledge of current web technologies and techniques employed by best-in-class eCommerce websites to deliver superior usability and conversion, along with a good understanding of website analytics not only for monitoring and reporting purposes but to inform and guide usability / conversion projects. You are equally commercially driven and consumer experience driven. Previous attendance at training or seminars on online marketing related topics such as SEO, PPC, Conversion Rate Optimisation, A/B testing, Website Usability, Website Analytics would be advantageous.
