For more than 70 years our success has been a direct result of the talent, skills and persistence of our people, and we are looking for a Digital Web Designer to join the Digital Strategy and Programme team within Fiduciary in Edinburgh for a 6 month contract with the possibility for extension.
What is theDigital Strategy and Programme teamresponsible for?
This team drives our digital platforms for Fiduciary investors, this involves looking after our client portal which is used by investors, employees and advisors. Within this role we need someone who can apply their expertise in user experience, design tools, design techniques and marketing to various campaigns (mobile, tablet and web). You’ll design major components of a site and set standards across large project areas, often global in scope. And support web projects from start to finish, collaborating with Digital/Virtual Channels Technology and other web designers and developers.
What are the ongoing responsibilities of a Digital Web Designer?
Create webpage design, web components, banner ads and promotional banners; including website redesigns, web application projects and mobile delivery
Propose unique visual treatments within the brand guidelines and producing web graphics to be used in website and mobile designs and web applications
Manage design projects of defined scope, relying upon brand and design style guidelines, pre-approved design templates, content components, technology and Content Management System guidelines
Understand best practices for user experience for mobile and web, design standards, techniques, technologies, tools and internal processes
Conduct website consistency reviews and identify consistency issues to senior team members for evaluation and consideration
Produce web graphics that follow predetermined style guidelines
Whatqualifications, skills and experiencewould help someone to be successful?
BA degree in graphic design or visual communications
Formal or on the job training in web design and development

Good experience in website or web application design
Fundamental knowledge of mobile UI design, with an understanding of the differences between mobile web and mobile app
Solid understanding of digital design concepts, best practices, graphic production and HTML and CSS coding
Fundamental understanding of usability, information architecture, interface design, and prototyping.
Ideally experience in either the financial industry or major corporation
Excellent communication skills, proven project management and problem solving skills; with the ability to communicate design concepts to a larger audience
Solid skills in using Adobe PhotoShop and knowledge of other design tools such as Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Flash (animation & actionscript)
Some knowledge of HTML5 and CMS
Prefer experience with web design in foreign languages or other cultures or countries
Ability to work under tight deadlines and effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously
Must be able to maintain high level of productivity and accountability with minimal supervision
Ability to work cross functional and in a distributed environment
Excellent advocacy and persuasive skills
Ability to articulate vision of digital design and business goals of design elements
