|Purpose of role|
Dentons’ Banking and Finance Group is seeking an experienced debt capital markets and structured finance lawyer to join its existing practice development lawyer team in London, either full time or for 3 or 4 days a week.
The role will focus on supporting our growing Debt Capital Markets and Structured Finance team in London. The role will also involve support for other Dentons finance teams globally practising English law, for example in the Gulf and in continental Europe. As a Practice Development Lawyer (PDL) (a role traditionally referred to as professional support lawyer or PSL), you will be part of our existing Banking and Finance PDL team, which supports our 25 partner Banking and Finance practice in London. You will be the first PDL which is dedicated to supporting our Debt Capital Markets and Structured Finance team.
Our Debt Capital Markets team covers a wide range of transactions including international bond offerings, EMTN programme establishments and updates, sukuk issues and liability management transactions. Our Structured Finance team focusses on RMBS, CMBS, NPL portfolio acquisitions and CLO transactions.
This role would ideally suit a 5 year plus pqe transactional debt capital markets or structured finance lawyer looking to transition in to an innovative, commercially focussed PDL role, or an experienced PDL.
Current awareness and horizon scanning
With others, you will help develop thought leadership and identify trends and share information – both internally and with clients - about key legal and regulatory developments affecting participants in the structured finance and debt capital markets.
You will work with the team to develop and maintain a suite of standard form precedent documentation.
You will contribute to our wide range of internal and client training programmes by organising, writing and delivering training sessions, for all levels of lawyers. There may be opportunity to present training sessions overseas, both to colleagues and to clients.
Legal service delivery and innovation
As an integral part of our Debt Capital Markets and Structured Finance team, you can expect to regularly provide advice or act as a sounding board for transactional queries, ranging from basic questions from trainees to complex structuring queries from partners and other experiences lawyers.
Liaising with global, regional and local practice development lawyers, business development lawyers and knowledge management professionals serving other practice/industry groups, sharing best practices with them and learning from them.
Identifying knowledge-related services which might be utilised to deepen the Banking & Finance Group’s relationships with key clients as part of the firm's overall client relationship management efforts.
Participating in industry working groups and associations and sharing developments and best practice with the team.
