POSITION: Customer Technical Support Team Member

LOCATION: Field Base (3 positions available 2 would be in southern half of UK, 1 in Northern half of UK)
Our client Chemetall, is the global Surface Treatment business unit of BASF's Coatings division.
Due to continued success the company is looking to recruit a Customer Technical Support Team Member. The purpose of the role is to ensure the company’s customer base receives timely and relevant technical service of their processes and support in reaction to reported issues. The successful candidate will be flexible as this is a field based role with extensive travel within a geographic territory.
The position entails visiting metal surface pre-treatment customers across all market segments, measuring their processes, supporting fault finding activities wherever necessary and partaking in process improvement projects. This will be achieved by having a hands-on approach, working with customer technical teams and the company’s support functions. Excellence in customer service and an ability to work in a customer facing role are a pre-requisite.
The successful candidate will have:
•A broad understanding of metal pre-treatment and its associated processes, science degree preferred but not essential for an appropriately experienced person.
•A background in chemical processes or comparable fields.
•Strong interpersonal skills and find it easy to quickly build relationships.
•An ability to remain calm and focussed when in difficult situations.
•A structured approach to problem solving and would benefit from an understanding of continuous improvement techniques.
•A good knowledge of MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint).
•A full British driving license.
•The willingness to travel and stay away from home for a limited time at short notice.
•The ability to work as part of a team.
•Self-motivation and be confident working alone.
•A good awareness of current SHE standards in manufacturing environments.
•A desire to continually develop their understanding of new products and technologies.
•A readiness to take an active part in remedial actions at customers.
•A willingness to contribute to the development of new or less experienced team members.
