We think and work globally - we don’t just say we are one firm; we act like one firm right across the world. We work wherever our clients need us. Continuous improvement (CI) is a brand new area for Freshfields. Established in 2015, the function is already a key part of the strategy at our Global Centre (Europe) in Manchester. The team trains, coaches and mentors people on CI tools and techniques from visual management to A3 problem-solving, as well as delivering larger, more complex changes. The team’s work is high-profile; we are active across all the firm’s functions, including the delivery of legal services.
You will have the opportunity to make your mark on a “green-field” CI site, helping to shape the function and influencing how CI is used in Freshfields. You will need experience of using structured improvement methodologies (such as Lean Six Sigma). You will also be highly analytical and get a buzz from both solving, and helping others to solve, problems.
The Freshfields Global Centre provides a range of services to support the firm’s fee earners, including HR, Finance, IT, Marketing and Document Services, as well as a growing base of paralegals. Established three years ago, Continuous Improvement has always been at the heart of the Centre’s ethos. The CI program has matured from a functional model in its first iteration, through to the delivery of high-impact, cross-functional transformations, and now into high-intensity innovation projects. Throughout this period, the team has continued to be grow its reputation across the Global Centre and the firm, and to maintain strong ties to senior leaders and front-line staff alike through our ongoing CI training and mentoring schemes.
A vacancy has arisen to join the team at an exciting time, with the appetite for digital and cost transformation being at an all-time high.
The role holder must support to bring the CI principles and tools across all aspects of the business as we continue to put our customers at the heart of what we do.
