POSITION: CNC / Manual Machinist
HOURS: 39 hours a week, Full Time
LOCATION: West Yorkshire

The company also offers a fully bespoke service for any special purpose machinery required to enhance manufacturing capabilities. The company has a reputation for great customer service and after-sales support that has been earned for over nearly 3 decades.
Due to continued success the company is seeking to recruit a CNC / Manual Machinist.
The company relies heavily on the capabilities and turn-around time of its in-house Machine Shop. High precision, right-first-time components at the correct quality and efficiency is at the very heart of the department. This role offers a career path of progression to Supervisor Level for the right candidate.
Main Duties (not limited to):
•Correctly interpret engineering drawings and prepare the manufacturing processes accordingly
•Quality assure own work, visual inspection and using measuring equipment such as Vernier callipers and micrometres to valid machined tolerances are to drawing specification
•Machine parts to specifications using the most efficient processes available, selecting the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work
•To take a considered approach to component design, challenging the design where non-essential tolerancing, non-added value machining is indicated but may not be required
•Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process, looking for optimisation
•Maximise dead time between machine cycles by performing ‘inside work’ on other machines or processes
•Study sample parts, engineering drawings, and engineering information to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to manufacture products and determine raw material requirements
•If necessary, measure and cut raw materials in preparation for machining
•Observe and listen to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions and to determine need for adjustments or repairs
•Carry out daily preventative maintenance to ensure machines are in basic working order
•Escalate any performance or machine operation issues in a timely and accurate manner
•Calibrate machining equipment and measuring devices
•Maintain the upkeep of the machine Shop Work Planner updated with estimating and task completion information
•Working collaboratively with peers to maximise departmental efficiencies and challenge short lead times and capacity constraints
•Carry out Risk Assessments within the Machine Shop environment
•To actively support Risk Assessments across other areas of the business
•To always work in a safe manner, reducing hazards and risks to self and others
•To promote the business in a positive manner always and wherever possible, take a proactive approach to identifying sales opportunities which may be of interest to the business
•To ensure compliance with the company’s Health and Safety Policy, and any other prevailing legislation.
•Experience in a similar role.
•Be able to work with a small amount of guidance and daily interaction from the Production Supervisor or Production Director.
•Must be capable of accurately interpreting engineering drawings, acknowledging key dimensions for functionality and carrying out high quality work on time and to the correct standard.
•Be able to maintain the up-keep of the Machine Shop work planner, which is used to accurately estimate, plan, prioritise and schedule workloads, providing other areas of the business with clear visibility of machining capacity and progress towards work complete – sometimes hour by hour, or day by day.
•Be capable of identifying areas of improvement, through productivity, tooling and process.
•Must be self-motivated, flexible in their approach and be capable of working under their own initiative.
