Working in the Reinsurance Claims team at XL Catlin, the leading global insurer and reinsurer, you will be on the front line in helping to resolve these situations for those affected by a wide spectrum of risks. With a network of over 100 international offices, XL Catlin will provide you with global exposure to risks of varying magnitude and value. Your job will be to help our clients protect their business interests by settling their reinsurance claims fairly and efficiently, whilst working alongside lawyers, experts and brokers. You will need to employ excellent client-facing skills and technical expertise to manage claims that could be worth millions. What will your essential responsibilities as a Graduate Trainee Reinsurance Claims Adjuster include? Assist with the handling of excess of loss reinsurance claims, from multiple classes of business including UK and US Casualty, Property and Marine, using both Lloyd’s and London Market platforms. Assist with both claims and account management, including the production of full and accurate data for regular reports, meetings and committees. Ensuring the Underwriters and/or other colleagues are kept fully aware of any key claims issues and developments to facilitate proactive account management. Attend client claims review meetings with Senior Claims Adjusters to discuss large losses and review claims files. Maintain internal and external service standards with regards to claims payments and turnaround of transactions. Build and maintain key broker relationships. Work on ad-hoc claims research and project work to provide the Claims Team and Underwriters with information they need to make informed claims and underwriting decisions. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of key Reinsurance and Lloyd’s issues, along with legal developments, i.e. relevant case law; new and developing precedents; changes in legislation. Ensuring that, as an XL Catlin employee, you are representing the XL Catlin organisation in a professional and appropriate manner including adherence to all external and internal regulatory and statutory policies and procedures Relationships are central to the world of insurance. You will develop a network of valuable contacts by interacting with brokers and lawyers. Excellent numeracy, with demonstrable evidence of manipulating data clearly and accurately with the ability to extract & clearly articulate key points. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Organisation skills including effective scheduling, prioritisation and time management skills, completing tasks to tight deadlines. Comfortable taking ownership for own work, identifying the need for action (using initiative) whilst working effectively within a team. Ability to build effective working relationships (internally/externally). Willing to ask questions and explore new ideas. Eager to learn and focused on continuously improving technical skills and XL Catlin claims capabilities. The role would suit a highly driven self-motivated individual, with a strong desire to challenge and deliver. Must have or expect to achieve a 2:2 or above in your undergraduate degree plus have attained a minimum of three B grades in your top three A-levels (excluding General Studies) or equivalent.
