Civil Project Engineer Location: Bristol, Head Office Salary: Circa £40,000 depending on skills and experience Closing Date: Wednesday 20 March 2019 We have an exciting opportunity for a Civil Project Engineer to join our Projects team who are responsible for the design, project management and supervision of the construction and renovation of a wide range of Network and Corporate assets, including pumping stations, pipelines, reservoirs and buildings. What will you be doing? As Project Engineer you will be responsible for designing and supervising a diverse range of civil engineering projects, to ensure Bristol Water achieves value in the delivery of the capital programme whilst minimising the impact on our customers. You will have a varied role, where you will have opportunity for designing, drawing and supervising construction of civil engineering projects from outline design through detailed design, construction, commissioning and handover. Day to day you will be: Contribute to the evaluation of feasibility studies in the Network Solutions team Undertake or supervise, outline, detailed design (including structural and hydraulic calculations), drawing, implementation, commissioning and handover for a variety of projects. Prepare tender documentation working together with the Cost Manager and the Procurement department Support the Senior Project Manager in the project management of projects, including the monitoring and control of project costs and review of RAMS. Support the Senior Project Manager in the delivery of projects including taking on formal contractual roles and supervising and managing consultants and contractors including the review of claims and variations and resolving technical queries. Manage consultants and contractors including their selection where necessary. Complete as-built drawings and handover documentation (operating manuals, contract completion certificates etc) and undertake post construction reviews. What we are looking for … We need someone with experience of designing civil engineering structures and / or water mains. You will need to be comfortable in the delivery of projects and various forms of contracts. In order to be successful in this role you will have effective communication and stakeholder management skills, customer focused and able to build trust. Use of all MS Office software applications to an intermediate / advanced level. Use and application of design and document management software including AutoCAD, structural analysis and design calculation packages. Use of various surveying equipment. A construction or engineering related degree with relevant design content and Chartered status or working towards Chartered Status. Relevant design experience of structures and /or pipelines including the use of design software packages and the production of construction project documentation. The implementation of relevant construction projects from inception to completion with a clear and demonstrable understanding of CDM Regulations and other construction safety legislation, contractual arrangements, commercial awareness and the management of risk.
