Do you want the freedom to vary your social work experience and practice across different social work areas in children’s social care with the benefits of a permanent contract?
Are you curious about what happens in other social work teams and would like to give them a try?
Our practice support social workers are permanent employees, supported by our Quality Assurance & Professional Development service, who undertake a range of 3 to 12 month social worker attachments to social work teams anywhere across the Children’s Social Care service.
Our values are that children should grow up in their families where it is safe for them to do so and we’re committed to working alongside the family network to increase safety for their children. We’re focussed on supporting excellent social work practice and use systemic approaches in a Signs of Safety framework to achieve this.
Our practice support social workers play an important role in supporting our Children’s Social Care system to maintain excellent practice and team stability. You’ll have a manageable caseload and be supported in your learning and development of new skills and areas of practice so that you can be the social worker you want to be.
We see all our social workers as ‘change agents’ who are skilled at taking different positions to help children and their families understand risks; harness and build on their strengths; co-produce safety and wellbeing plans and tackle difficult issues to reduce risk and effect positive changes in their lives. As a practice support social worker there’ll be opportunities for you to use your creativity and skills in a range of areas from bringing family networks together to share worries and harness their strength to co-produce plans for children; to creating words and pictures books with children in care through to cultural genogram work with prospective foster carers as part of their assessment.
You’ll be a resilient and agile social worker, who thrives on new challenges and learning opportunities. You’ll enjoy quickly building positive and collaborative relationships with children, families, colleagues and being a team player.
With permanent Team Managers and a permanent senior leadership team you'll be well supported with regular and reflective supervision. Our workforce is stable and 85% of your social work colleagues across Children’s Social Care & Youth Inclusion are permanent. Our Learning and Development offer provides access to a range of learning opportunities and accredited Signs of Safety and Systemic social work training to develop your skills and career.
