Job Title - Analyst
Key Responsibilities - Working in conjunction with the Trading and Sales Trading teams, maintaining IOI's throughout the day for the Traders and refreshing IOI's regularly from Sales Traders to make sure we are constantly and consistently advertising our flow and market share and indications correctly. This process and system would obviously be dictated by the Trading Team. I would also expect the Junior to learn dash and our internal Sales Trader Work Stations and make sure it is kept updated regularly. As time develops, I would like the Junior to provide the US Team with flow, news, read acrosses, and the sector activity (a process that should help encourage the US Desk Assistants to do reciprocate so we can see US moves that may have been missed in Europe). I would like the candidate to be in control on formulating a reliable week ahead and link it with internal events, systematic trading, trading ideas, quant names, and sales trading names and trading names. Also bringing in option desk flow into our week ahead to help them target situations that might arise and help cross sell the products. It should also provide a link with US team's week ahead and read across situations. Recording Sales Trader's client meetings and feedback and following up the records from those meetings to make sure those events have been covered and achieved (a client calendar in a nutshell). Historically, at Cantors London we have been unable on the Equity Large Cap Desk to have successful progress in developing youth and plugging them into accounts and ensuring growth. I believe with the new structure and team environment that we can now have the ability to progress a junior into a Sales Trader / Trader. This will achieve three things for the team, help build the desk organically which will control costs, help repeat the process in future years and will help build/maintain a family environment. I believe that a Junior Desk Assistant should be in charge of chasing and organising the account opening structure and be the link with CDD, Risk, Middle Office and Settlements for ensuring new accounts are ready for action, including fix connections and so forth. Coverage wise, I think we can all agree that there are reasons to pop off the desk sporadically and this will give the Junior Desk Assistant an opportunity to learn and avoid inefficient service for orders. I believe once the appropriate qualifications have been achieved the Junior Desk Assistant will provide Traders and Senior Traders more time to go and see clients on low volume days and arrange meetings with the comfort of knowing someone is covering accounts/desk/team.
Skills / Experience Required - Excellent communication skills with ability to deal with a variety of stakeholders confidently and knowledgably. Excellent numerical skills Ability to collate information and present back in a clear and concise format. Good understanding of financial markets and willingness to learn Bachelor's degree or equivalent (preferably in economics, business, or quantitative field), 1-3 years experience on an Equities execution desk, critical thinking and analysis skills, ability to pass required regulatory exams, great interpersonal skills and ability to develop relationships with external clients (mutual fund and hedge fund traders).
